Kaio Publications, Inc. publishes and sells Christian books, Bible study materials, and family devotional resources at kaiopublications.org. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit or purchase from our website, how we use it, and what choices you have. We have tried to write it plainly rather than in legal language.
Information You Give Us
When you place an order or create an account, we collect the information needed to complete and deliver your purchase:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your shipping and billing addresses
- Your telephone number, when you provide one
- Account login information, if you create an account
When you write to us, subscribe to our mailing list, or contact us about an order, we keep that correspondence so we can help you.
Payment Information
Payments on our website are processed by Square. Your card information is transmitted directly to Square and handled under its own privacy and security practices. Kaio Publications does not receive, store, or have access to your full card number.
Information Collected
Automatically Like most websites, ours records certain technical information automatically when you visit. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, and the site you came from. This information helps us keep the site working properly and understand which resources readers are looking for.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored by your browser. Cookies keep your shopping cart working, remember you if you log in, and support basic site functions. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies, though refusing them may prevent parts of our store from working correctly.
Analytics and Website Tracking
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use our website. It records information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the site or search that brought you here, and your general location. We look at this information in aggregate to improve the site and to learn which resources readers are looking for. We do not use it to identify you personally. If you would rather Google Analytics not record your visit, Google offers a browser opt-out add-on that blocks it.
Our email marketing service, Mailchimp, also places a script on our store that records product views and purchases. If you are a subscriber, that activity may be connected to your subscription so we can send you relevant messages, such as a reminder about an item left in your cart. Unsubscribing from our mailing list ends this.
Email and Mailing List
If you subscribe to our mailing list, we use Mailchimp to store your address and send our messages. We send news about new titles, study resources, and the work of Kaio Publications. We do not send messages on behalf of other companies.
Every message we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you may unsubscribe at any time. You may also write to us at joe@kaiopublications.org and we will remove you.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade, or share it for anyone else's marketing purposes. We share information only with the companies that make our store function, and only to the extent they need it:
- Our ecommerce platform, which hosts the store
- Square, which processes payments
- Shipping carriers, which deliver your order
- Mailchimp, our email marketing service
- Google, which provides our website analytics
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or when necessary to protect our rights, our customers, or the security of our website.
Children
We publish books for children, and we are glad when families read them together. Our website, however, is intended for adults who are making a purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen. If you believe a child has provided us information, write to joe@kaiopublications.org and we will delete it.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep order records as long as needed to fulfill orders, provide support, and meet accounting and tax requirements. We keep mailing list information until you unsubscribe. You may ask us to delete your information as described below.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct information that is wrong, to ask us to delete it, or to opt out of certain uses. Residents of Tennessee and of other states with consumer privacy laws have these rights under those laws.
To make a request, write to joe@kaiopublications.org. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time your state's law allows. We will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.
Visitors Outside the United States
Our printed books ship only within the United States, but our digital titles may be purchased from anywhere. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or another region with similar privacy laws, please note that your information is processed in the United States.
We process your information because it is necessary to complete a purchase you requested, because you have consented, as with our mailing list, or because we have a legitimate interest in operating our store. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Write to joe@kaiopublications.org to exercise any of these rights.
Security
Our website uses encrypted connections, and payment information is handled by Square rather than stored by us. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy when our practices change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
